Days 1-2

Kandy and the Knuckles

Start in Kandy with a warm-up walk over the Hanthana ridge on Pekoe Trail Stage 1, then a day in the Knuckles forest: the Dothalugala trail and the cliff edge at Mini World’s End. See Randonnées d'une journée au départ de Kandy.

Days 3-4

Adam’s Peak

Transfer into tea country and climb Sri Pada through the night for sunrise from the summit. See the Adam’s Peak Night Climb.

Days 5-6

Nuwara Eliya and Horton Plains

On to Nuwara Eliya, then a dawn start for World’s End and Baker’s Falls on the Horton Plains loop. See Horton Plains at Sunrise.

Days 7-8

The train to Ella

The hill-country railway down to Ella, then Ella Rock at sunrise, Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arch Bridge. See Ella Day Hikes.

Optional

Extend it

Add days on the Pekoe Trail, a Knuckles overnight to Meemure, or a rainforest day in Sinharaja.

On every trip

  • Privé : Rien que votre groupe et votre guide, à votre rythme.
  • Led by an SLTDA-licensed guide, who knows the route and the conditions on the day.
  • Transfers, accommodation and passes arranged for the whole trip, in vetted guesthouses and planters’ bungalows.
  • First-class train seats reserved where we can get them.

Bring walking shoes with good grip, a rain jacket, water and sun protection. If weather makes a trail unsafe, we’ll move your day. See the liste des affaires à emporter.

Quand y aller

January to March is the best window for the whole hill country, and it overlaps the Adam’s Peak pilgrimage season (December to May). September and October are a good second window. We avoid the wettest months for each area, and will say so if your dates are marginal.
