Ambuluwawa: The Tower Above Gampola
Easy · Kandy District · Central Province

Ambuluwawa is the mountain above Gampola crowned by a white spiral tower, whose outside stair narrows as it climbs. The summit also holds places of worship for four faiths, set in a biodiversity complex. It is a viewpoint more than a hike.
What you’ll walk through
Most visitors drive or take a tuk-tuk most of the way up, then walk the final stretch and climb the tower. The top of the spiral is very narrow and exposed, with long views over Gampola and the central hills.
The top of the tower is very narrow and exposed. Not for anyone uneasy with heights.
Access & permits
Entry is ticketed through the Ambuluwawa Biodiversity Complex. Published foreigner prices disagree and none is official, so we do not print one.
