Ella Rock at sunrise
A 10 km round trip from Ella station along the railway, through Kithal Ella and tea smallholdings, then a steep forest climb to the summit ridge above the Ella Gap. The middle section is easy to lose on your own, which is where a guide earns their keep.
Little Adam’s Peak
The easiest serious summit in the hill country: 4 km there and back from Passara Road, through the 98 Acres tea estate and up stone steps to a 1,141 m ridge with views of Ella Rock.
Nine Arch Bridge
Along the line from Ella station, past a smaller three-arch bridge, to the 1919 viaduct, 91 m long and 24 m high. We time it for a train crossing.

Bring walking shoes with good grip, a rain jacket, water and sun protection. If weather makes a trail unsafe, we’ll move your day. See the packing list.
When to go
January to March is the clearest. The walks run all year, but the upper Ella Rock trail is muddy and leechy in the wet months and the summit can cloud over. Start early to be off the open sections before midday.
