Ravana Falls is about 6 km from Ella railway station, at roughly 1,050 m, inside the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary. The water pours about 25 m from a concave, oval outcrop, and it is one of the most visited waterfalls in the country because it sits right by the road.

What you’ll walk through

This is a roadside waterfall rather than a hike: it is a short walk from the road to the pool. In the wet season the flow fans out in a shape often compared to an areca flower; in the dry season it drops sharply. Nearby, the Ravana Ella Cave at about 1,370 m holds evidence of people living there around 25,000 years ago.

The rock around the pool is slippery.
