Pitawala Pathana: Mini World's End
about 1.5 km round trip · Easy · 45-60 minutes · Matale District · Central Province

Pitawala Pathana is a flat grassland plateau in the Knuckles that ends without warning at a sheer drop: the "Mini World's End". It is one of the easiest big views in the range, a short walk from the road to Riverston.
What you’ll walk through
From the ticket office on the Matale-Riverston road, about 32 km from Matale, a marked path crosses open grassland to two viewpoints right at the edge of the escarpment. Low yellow markers show the way. Mist rolls in fast and can hide the view within minutes.
The edge is unfenced and the drop is sheer. Stay back from it, especially in mist or wind.
Access & permits
Inside the Knuckles range, with a ticket bought at the office on the Riverston road. We could not confirm the current foreigner price from an official source.
